Automation in business.....how to move forward
We sometimes choose to do things the hard way....there always is a hard way and a less hard way.
I don't think automating tasks in my business was a thing for me until I started to work for myself and there was just me to do things and then my time was pushed.
The problem with time is that you can't buy time, you can't make time but you can claw back time if you know what you are doing.
So before we dive into what can be automated in a small business I'd like to look at some of the benefits to automation:
Juggling many different things can lead to dropping the ball on occasions. By automating elements of your tasks or processes means less things fall through the cracks.
You want to spend more time on quality, business building tasks but you just don't have the time because mundane tasks are taking over.
Stress levels are decreased because things are happening for you in the background
There are countless ways to make your business automated and it doesn't even need to start that big and it definitely doesn't need to complicated.
One idea is to give your clients a link to your diary so THEY can book their own appointments and that in itself is mind blowing to some people!!
We've all done the email ping pong to book appointments and it's so frustrating for both parties and wastes so much time, let alone looks slightly less than professional.
Setting up a simple Calendly.com account or Acuity.com will be enough to at least get this part started and release some of that precious time.
My next tip is to collate all of those email subscriptions into one place!! Let's automate them together without you having to lift a finger:
Create a new folder in your email inbox called subscriptions
Create a filter or rule that says all emails with the word 'unsubscribe' to be automatically diverted to the new folder called subscriptions and to miss out the inbox all together
This means that your inbox will not be clogged up with your email subscriptions and you can peruse at your leisure and not feel overwhelmed.
One of the things that I do with my clients is to get them thinking about what they do on a day to day basis....
I get them to write down all their regular tasks and write down the steps to completing those tasks and work out which of the steps can either be automated or cut out completely......some people do things for the sake of it because they've always done it like that!!!
